FAQ

How many tests does my project require?

The number of tests needed for your project will depend on many factors – not least the different testing requirements of different councils.

Morrison Geotechnic are experts in working to the specifications provided by all councils throughout Queensland, including local South East Queensland councils such as:

  • Brisbane City Council
  • Ipswich City Council
  • Gold Coast City Council
  • Sunshine Coast Council
  • Logan City Council
  • Noosa Shire Council
  • Moreton Bay Regional Council
  • Scenic Rim Regional Council
  • Redland City Council
  • Somerset Regional Council

The expert Morrison Geotechnic team can advise you on the necessary tests for your project, carry them out in accordance with your project timeframe, and ensure compliance with all specifications.

What is Level One supervision? Do we need it?

Yes. Level One Supervision has become a standard requirement for all building development sites. By carrying out Level One Supervision of earthworks filling, Morrison Geotechnic can provide you with an independent opinion on the compliance of the work with local authority and project specifications. We can then provide you with a certificate of compliance to present to your local council so that building work can commence.

Carrying out your earthworks fill placement and compaction under Level One Supervision eliminates any guesswork on the performance of the end use of the fill.

How do different rock types affect development costs?

Each of the three main rock types – sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic – are commonly found in Brisbane and the greater South East Queensland area – not to mention further afield!

By drawing on our extensive database, Morrison Geotechnic can provide you with advice on the type of rock you can expect to find for a given job site. We can even provide some initial recommendations on the type of machinery you’re likely to need on-site to best deal with the type of rock we expect you to find.

Can you service regional and remote projects?

Absolutely. Morrison Geotechnic is fully equipped with mobile testing laboratories that allow us to visit you on-site, no matter where your project is located in Queensland.
And because we come to you, you can get on with the job sooner when you don’t have to stop work and wait for base laboratories to come back to you with vital testing results.

How much notice do you need?

We’re committed to providing our clients with a fast response when they need soil testing or geotechnical input. In the vast majority of cases, we can come back to you with your test results either the same day, or the next day.

What will my testing cost?

Because of the vast array of different projects we work on, we’re unable to provide a ‘one-size-fits-all’ single price for soil testing. We never assume. We understand that every site is unique, and conditions will vary between neighbouring sites.

Your costs will depend on the number of tests needed, your location, and other factors. But it’s important to remember that simply choosing the cheapest option for your soil testing may not be the most cost-effective solution in the long term. Our commitment to quality and accuracy means the information you receive will be right first time, every time.
